We are confident that the new platform will enable us to take this unique offering to a wider audience in the coming years." Due to its online-only format, SRO since its inception has been able to act both as a mainstream journal covering the full breadth of sociological inquiry and as a platform for special collections on emerging areas, rapid response articles on topical issues, and sub-disciplines such as visual sociology. "We are both proud and excited that the transition of SRO to a new platform with SAGE and the BSA is taking place under our editorship. The co-editors of SRO, Charlie Walker and Steven Roberts, commented: SAGE and the BSA will work with the Editors and Editorial Board to develop and support the journal’s growth moving forwards. The two universities have stepped down and the journal will now be published on SAGE Journals. Since the 1990s the journal has been published on a stand-alone website by a consortium of the universities of Surrey and Stirling, SAGE and the BSA. It is a vital space revealing the importance of how sociological research is crucial to understanding contemporary social issues. Published quarterly since 1996, SRO is an online only journal publishing high-quality research pertaining to sociological enquiry. SAGE Publishing today announces that it is to publish Sociological Research Online (SRO) in partnership with the British Sociological Association (BSA).
